Mošćenička Draga is municipality in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. It has 1,600 inhabitants. It is situated southwest of Opatija under Mt. Učka. The centre of the municipality is the former fishing village of Mošćenička Draga which is today a tourist resort with seven beaches, small marina and walking paths. Above Mošćenička Draga there is the hilltop town of Mošćenice.

Long time ago Mošćenička Draga was the fishing port of the town of Mošćenice; the oldest preserved writings date back to the year 1436. A settlement “…on the harbour next to St. Marina” is mentioned there. A must see for history lovers are two medieval towns – Mošćenice, erected on cliffs rising 178 m above the sea and Brseč, erected on a rock 157 m high, overlooking the wavy Kvarner.

The Lungomare Promenade leading to the St. Ivan Beach. Along the way walkers are accompanied by the sounds of the sea and scent of the rich Mediterranean flora. The Municipality of Mošćenička Draga covers the area from Cesara Bay to Stupova Bay beneath the village of Zagore (Stepča). The area cuts deeply into the Učka Nature Park and is naturally protected by the hills of Sisol, Kremenjak, Perun and the dominant Učka Mountain.

It seems like Mošćenička Draga is somehow aloof from the world, but for tourists, curious visitors, weekend trippers, walkers, sportspersons, artists and nature lovers this place has always been the recommended holiday destination, especially because of its autochthonous Mediterranean architecture, the littoral tradition, fishery and history.
