At Potsdamer Platz, the originally bustling heart of old Berlin, the Sony Center and the buildings in the surrounding brought the district back to life. Events, concerts, film premieres and lots more are great reasons to revisit and rediscover the Sony Center over and over again.

The Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz, home to the corporation’s European headquarters, consists of an ensemble of buildings surrounding a covered piazza open to the public. It also offers various leisure options, as well as the Filmmuseum Berlin – German Film Archive (Deutsche Kinemathek) and its Marlene Dietrich collection. Two rooms belonging to the former Hotel Esplanade and classified as a historical monument have been integrated into the complex, after having been moved several meters in 1996 before construction work began.

Commissioned by Otto Beisheim, founder of the Metro retail group, a new residential and business area for connoisseurs of a select lifestyle was built at Potsdamer Platz. The Beisheim Center, an elegant, American-style urban quarter on the prime property next to the debis site and the Sony Center, completes Potsdamer Platz as a location. Five individual buildings of exquisite architectural design were constructed here: the Ritz-Carlton Berlin hotel with its luxury tower apartments; two representative office buildings; an exclusive apartment house; and the Marriott Hotel.
