Westhafen Tower is a 109.9 m (361 ft) 30-storey skyscraper in the Gutleutviertel district of Frankfurt. The building was designed by the architects Schneider & Schumacher and was completed in 2004. The tower, whose name literally means “West Port Tower”, is one of the first buildings at the former West Port.   read more…

The Palais Quartier is a building complex in the Innenstadt district of Frankfurt. It was built from 2004 to 2011. The complex consists of four buildings: MyZeil, a shopping mall, the Palais Thurn und Taxis, a reconstruction of a palace from 1793, the Nextower, a 136-metre high rise office building and Jumeirah Frankfurt, a 99-metre high rise hotel building.   read more…

The German National Library (German: Deutsche Nationalbibliothek or DNB) is the central archival library and national bibliographic centre. Its task is to collect, permanently archive, comprehensively document and record bibliographically all German and German-language publications since 1913, foreign publications about Germany, translations of German works, and the works of German-speaking emigrants published abroad between 1933 and 1945, and to make them available to the public. The German National Library maintains co-operative external relations on a national and international level. For example, it is the leading partner in developing and maintaining bibliographic rules and standards in Germany and plays a significant role in the development of international library standards. The cooperation with publishers is regulated by law since 1935 for the Deutsche Bücherei Leipzig and since 1969 for the Deutsche Bibliothek Frankfurt.   read more…

St Paul’s Church (German: Paulskirche) in Frankfurt am Main is a church with important political symbolism in Germany. It was started as a Lutheran church in 1789 – coincidentally the same year as the French Revolution. By 1849, it had become the seat of the Frankfurt Parliament, the first publicly and freely-elected German legislative body.   read more…

The European Central Bank Headquarters is a building complex under construction in the Ostend district of Frankfurt am Main. It includes the existing Großmarkthalle, a new 185/165-metre-twin-skyscraper and a new low-rise building to connect the two. Located east of the city centre it will house the new headquarters for the European Central Bank (ECB). It is expected to be completed in 2014.   read more…

Frankfurt am Main, commonly known simply as Frankfurt, is the largest city in the German state of Hesse and the fifth-largest city in Germany, with a 2009 population of 672,000. The urban area had an estimated population of 2,295,000 in 2010.
