Lying alongside its fishing-village, Port Camargue is a seaboard town with class. With its perfect combination of lakes and green spaces, it’s a true ‘Garden Port’. Europe’s premier marina, Port Camargue can welcome any kind of boat. Port Camargue is part of the city of
Le Grau-du-Roi . It has the top-ranking technical facilities in Languedoc-Roussillon and can offer, in one place, all the equipment and services required for sailing. There are around fifty professionals on hand, to offer their expertise and skills. Other attractions include 12 miles of fine sandy beaches, from Le Boucanet to l’Espiguette, a sailing school, a naturist beach and a health spa.

The Chamber of Commerce of Nîmes (
CCI de Nîmes ) launched the project in 1963 to create a marina in an outer region of Le Grau-du-Roi. The planning was done by architect Jean Balladur, who had also designed the nearby city
La Grande-Motte . Construction began in 1969 with the founding of the docks, quays and bridges. Then first marinas were built. In 1974 came the Port Authority. From 1980, the second part of marinas was built in 1985, the original blueprint of the Chamber of Commerce of Nîmes was completed. Due to high demand numerous additional marinas and even a second port were built. It emerged next to apartment buildings and villas. With 4600 moorings, Port Camargue is one of the largest marinas in Europe. More and more permanent residents have settled here and the business is intensified (with more than a hundred shops). Tourism, together with the marina and water sports, are the main reasons for the rise of Port Camargue.
