The Mount of Beatitudes is a hill in the
Northern District of
Israel , in the
Korazim Plateau . It is where
Jesus is believed to have delivered the
Sermon on the Mount which started with the
Beatitudes .
Pope John Paul II celebrated a
Mass at this site in March 2000. The
Jesus Trail pilgrimage route connects the Mount to other sites from the life of Jesus.

The Jesus Trail is a 65 km (40 mi)
hiking and
pilgrimage route in the
Galilee region of
Israel that traces the route
Jesus may have walked, connecting many sites from his life and ministry. The main part of the trail begins in
Nazareth and passes through
Sepphoris ,
Cana (
Kafr Kanna ), the
Horns of Hattin ,
Mount Arbel Cliffs, the
Sea of Galilee ,
Capernaum ,
Tabgha , and the
Mount of Beatitudes . An alternate return route passes by
Tiberias , the
Jordan River ,
Mount Tabor , and
Mount Precipice . The Jesus Trail runs within the
1967 border .

Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish , shortened to
The Church of the Multiplication , is a Roman Catholic church located at
Tabgha , on the northwest shore of the
Sea of Galilee . The modern church rests on the site of two earlier churches. The church is maintained and overseen by the
Benedictine Order . Nearby are other Christian sites, especially the
Mount of Beatitudes north,
Capernaum and
Bethsaida east and
Magdala to the south of Tabgha.
