Worms is a city in Rhineland-Palatinate on the Rhine River with 82,000 inhabitants. The climate in the Rhine River Valley is very temperate in the winter time and quite enjoyable in the summertime. Maria Laach Abbey (in German: Abtei Maria Laach) is a Benedictine abbey situated on the southwestern shore of the Laacher See (Lake Laach), near Andernach, in the Eifel region of the Rhineland-Palatinate. It is a member of the Beuronese Congregation within the Benedictine Confederation. The abbey was known for nearly 770 years as “Abtei Laach” (“Abbatia Lacensis” or “Laach Abbey”, meaning the “Lake Abbey”) until 1862 when the Jesuits added the name “Maria”.   read more…

Haßloch (or Hassloch) is a municipality in the Bad Dürkheim district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Unlike most municipalities in the district, it does not belong to any Verbandsgemeinde – a kind of collective municipality. It lies near the Mannheim/Ludwigshafen built-up area. The municipality has grown out of a single centre and is thus sometimes styled “Germany’s biggest village”. Haßloch is the Bad Dürkheim district’s biggest municipality, exceeding even the namesake district seat. The village has at its disposal well developed infrastructure with educational and shopping facilities; the region’s surrounding centres can in the main be reached within 20 minutes.   read more…

Bad Kreuznach is the capital of the district of Bad Kreuznach, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located on the Nahe river, a tributary of the Rhine. The town and the surrounding areas are renowned both nationally and internationally for their wines, especially from the Riesling, Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau grape varieties. The villas of rich citizens built during the German Empire (1871–1918) are very typical of the town.   read more…
