Perpignan (
Catalan: Perpinyà;
Occitan: Perpinhan) is the
prefecture of the
Pyrénées-Orientales department in
Southern France, in the heart of the plain of
Roussillon, at the foot of the
Pyrenees a few kilometres from the
Mediterranean Sea and the
scrublands of the
Corbières massif. It is the centre of the
Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole metropolitan area.

Banyuls-sur-Mer (
Catalan: Banyuls de la Marenda) is a
commune in the
Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern
France. It was first
settled by Greeks starting in 400 BCE. Banyuls-sur-Mer is located in the
canton of La Côte Vermeille and in the
arrondissement of Céret.
