Ada is a village in Hardin County, Ohio, United States, located about 69 miles (111 km) southwest of Toledo. The population was 5,334 at the 2020 census. It is the home of Ohio Northern University. The National Arbor Day Foundation has qualified Ada as a Tree City USA since 1981.   read more…

German Village in Columbus

German Village is a historic neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, just south of the city’s downtown. It was settled in the early-to-mid-19th century by a large number of German immigrants, who at one time comprised as much as a third of the city’s entire population. It became a city historic district in 1960 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, becoming the list’s largest privately funded preservation district, and in 2007, was made a Preserve America Community by the White House. In 1980, its boundaries increased, and today it is one of the world’s premier historic restorations. German Village is bound by Pearl Street on the west; East Livingston Avenue on the north; Lathrop Street, Brust Street, Grant Avenue, Jaeger Street, and Blackberry Alley on the east; and Nursery Lane on the south. Although German Village is an eclectic community, the area is known as a Columbus “gayborhood.” While there are no gay establishments within German Village, the neighboring Brewery District and Merion Village have several.   read more…

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is a museum located on the shore of Lake Erie in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. It is dedicated to archiving the history of some of the best-known and most influential artists, producers, engineers and others who have, in some major way, influenced the music industry through the genre of rock music. The Great Lakes are a collection of freshwater lakes located in northeastern North America, on the Canada – United States border. Consisting of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario, they form the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth by total surface, coming in second by volume behind Baikal in Russia. The total surface is 208,610 km2 (80,545 sq mi), and the total volume is 22,560 km3 (5,412 cu mi) The lakes are sometimes referred to as the North Coast or “Third Coast” by some citizens of the United States. The Great Lakes hold 21% of the world’s surface fresh water.   read more…
