Falster is an island in south-eastern Denmark with an area of 486.2 km² (187.7 sq mi) and 43,398 inhabitants as of 1 January 2010. Læsø is the largest island in the North Sea bay of Kattegat, and is located 19 kilometres (12 mi) off the northeast coast of the Jutland Peninsula, the Danishmainland. Læsø is also the name of the municipality (Danish: kommune) on that island.
