29 September 2017 | Author/Destination: Knut Wingsch | Rubric: General, Editorial, European Union Reading Time: 25 minutesThe electoral participation in the Bundestag election in 2017 was 76.2%, and again increased by just under 5% compared to 2013 with 71.5%. The electoral participation has now risen for the third time in a row, which in principle is a very good signal. People are more and more interested in politics and realize that it is “about something”. Parties who could reach the 5% hurdle to enter the Bundestag are:
- Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) / Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU) (32,9%)
- Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) (20,5%)
- Alliance 90/The Greens (Greens) (8,9%)
- Free Democratic Party (FDP) (10,7%)
- The Left (Die Linke) (9,2%)
- Alternative for Germany (AfD) (12,6%)
