Biot (Occitan: Biòt) is a small fortified medieval hilltop village in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur near Antibes, between Nice and Cannes. Many people come to Biot for its renowned cubist art museum of Fernand Leger as well as the winding cobbled lanes on the elevated fort. This village, that is now known for its ceramics and glassblowing, dates to prehistoric times.   read more…

The Café de la Paix is a famous café located on the northwest corner of the intersection of the Boulevard des Capucines and the Place de l’Opéra, in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, France. Designed in the Napoleon III style by the architect Alfred Armand, who also designed the historic Grand-Hôtel in which the café is located, its florid interior decorations, historic location, and high-profile clientele have all brought it international recognition as a site of great cultural significance.   read more…

Tarte tropézienne, also known as “La Tarte de Saint-Tropez”, is a dessert pastry consisting of a halved brioche filled with a mix of two creams, thick pastry cream (crème pâtissière) and buttercream, and topped with pearl sugar. It was created in 1955 by Polish confectioner Alexandre Micka, a pâtisserie owner in Saint-Tropez, where he moved in 1945 just after the war.   read more…

The rue de la Paix (English: Peace Street) is a fashionable shopping street in the center of Paris. Located in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, running north from Place Vendôme and ending at the Opéra Garnier, it is best known for its jewellers, such as the shop opened by Cartier in 1898. Charles Frederick Worth was the first to open a couture house in the rue de la Paix. Many buildings on the street are inspired in design by the hôtels particuliers of Place Vendôme.   read more…

The fish market in the Old Port of Marseille is a small fish market made up of around ten stands located in the middle of the Quai de la Fraternité, at the exit of the “Vieux-Port” stop of the M1 metro line. Since Marseille-Provence 2013 European Capital of Culture, the fish market is partially covered by the Ombrière du Vieux-Port de Marseille, an immense mirror ceiling reflecting the activity of the quay.   read more…

Bormes-les-Mimosas (Occitan: Bòrmas dei Mimòsas) is a commune in the Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, southeastern France. Bormes-les-Mimosas is a city in bloom and won the 2003 Gold Medal awarded by the Entente Florale Europe. The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nice in Nice, France at 33 av. des Baumettes was built in the former private mansion built in 1878 by the Russian Princess, Elizaveta Vasilievna Kochubey. Named for the artist Jules Chéret who lived and worked in Nice during his final years, the museum opened as the “Palais des Arts Jules Chéret” on 7 January 1928.   read more…
