Playa (
Spanish for
beach ) is a
municipal district in the
Cuban province and capital of
Havana . The Playa district also includes the well-known district of
Miramar .
In pre-Columbian times, the indigenous Taíno people settled in this area, not far from the coast and relatively close to four rivers. For this reason, one of the largest numbers of archaeological finds in the city have been recorded here.
Today, numerous foreign embassies are located in this district.

Miramar is a formerly exclusive district of Havana. Today it is part of the municipality of Playa. Before the
revolution , the country’s upper class lived here. Its main street,
Quinta Avenida , named after New York’s
Fifth Avenue , is considered the most beautiful street in Cuba.
Miramar is a very green district with beautiful parks, gardens, and shady squares thanks to its dense tree cover, where Cuba’s upper class used to stroll.
