2018 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics

The 2018 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XXIII Olympic Winter Games, and commonly known as PyeongChang 2018, is a major international multi-sport event scheduled to take place from 9 to 25 February 2018 in Pyeongchang County, South Korea. These will be South Korea’s second Olympic Games and its first Winter Games; Seoul hosted the Summer Games in 1988. Pyeongchang will be the third Asian city to host the Winter Games; the first two were in Japan, at Sapporo (1972) and Nagano (1998).
Pyeongchang (Mountain cluster)
The Alpensia Resort in Daegwallyeong-myeon will be the focus of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Alpensia Sports Park: Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium, Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre, Alpensia Biathlon Centre, Alpensia Cross-Country Centre, Alpensia Sliding Centre, Yongpyong Alpine Centre, and the Olympic Village. Stand-alone venues: Bokwang Snow Park and Jeongseon Alpine Centre.
Gangneung (Coastal cluster)
The coastal cluster is located in the city of Gangneung. The Gangneung Olympic Park will include the following four venues: Gangneung Hockey Centre, Gangneung Curling Centre, Gangneung Oval, and the Gangneung Ice Arena. In addition, a stand-alone venue is located on the grounds of Catholic Kwandong University: Kwandong Hockey Centre
Winter Paralympics
The 2018 Winter Paralympics, officially known as the XII Paralympic Winter Games, will be held from 9 to 18 March 2018 and is organized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
Competitions in the 2018 Winter Paralympics will be held in six Winter Paralympic sports, with 80 medal events in total. Snowboarding will be expanded into a separate discipline for 2018, with 10 medal events (in 2014, two medal events in snowboarding were held within the alpine skiing programme).
