The Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development will continue the building and electrical mobility research from October 2011 on with the successor model of the energy-plus house, which will combine building and transport, stuffed with an awesome amount of green features.
The idea: The energy that the house produces is stored in appropriate high-performance batteries and fill up electric vehicles. Already this year a first fully functional, inhabitable “energy surplus house” will be presented in Berlin. The energy-plus house is here extended to a charging unit and an electric car.
The project is built as a 130 square meter house. It serves as a showcase for innovative developments of building and vehicle technologies. The building at Fasanentraße 87, 10623 Berlin will be used for two years under real conditions, scientifically tested and shown to the public. Under the headline “My house my station!” it presents the resource-saving, sustainable use of synergies between construction and transport. The not for the operation required additional produced electrical energy can be fed into the public grid or can be used for electric vehicles (car, motorcycle, bicycle). Several German automakers have already expressed interest in cooperating on this project.
Federal Minister Dr. Peter Ramsauer said:
“Buildings and transport together account for about 70 percent of the total energy consumption. This has enormous potential for savings. To achieve our climate goals we want to use, optimize and improve the already existing possibilities. Thereby we see Construction and Transport as one unit. It is important due to the construction of buildings to especially take the charging infrastructure into account. With our energy-plus house we go even further. With the help of an inhabitable prototype we want to demonstrate that it is possible for a family to use domestic produced energy for mobility. Our energy-plus house produces twice as much electricity as it consumes. Enough to additionally fuel an electric car. Therefore, we will build a showcase building in Berlin. With such innovative ideas Germany can and shall become the leading provider and the lead market for Electric Mobility.”
Besides a positive energy balance the house offer additional benefits:
Recyclability of all materials, easy deconstruction
Flexibility in terms of demographic change, accessibility and various support systems
Support of the operation by automating most of the functions and possible user intervention at any time
Easy maintenance and operation
Modern design with maximum flexibility for modifications
