Descending from the North, the Riviera suddenly opens up, as the alpine valleys of Leventina and Blenio come together. From Biasca, at the end of the River Moesa, there are, on both sides of the valley, picturesque villages that give the visitor an historical vision of an important past, together with the image of modern industry.

Romanesque churches and towers, stately homes of nobles past, hamlets nestling in the valley and on the mountains, granite quarries, factories, micro-technology, agriculture and dairy production, all testify to the tradition and to the industry of the people of this area.

The climate is ideal: the picturesque natural scenery of vineyards and chestnut groves; the clear water springing from the granite rocks of the adjoining valleys; the magnificent panorama from the ascending “terraces” of the mountain, all offer the tourist serenity, rest and relaxation.

The Valle Riviera is composed of the following communes: Biasca (and Val Pontirone), Claro, Cresciano, Iragna, Lodrino (with Prosito) and Osogna. The surface of the valley is 166.49 square kilometres.
