The
NFL Super Bowl LIV, the 54th
Super Bowl and the 50th
modern-era National Football League (NFL) championship game (
American Football) will decide the league champion for the league’s
2019 and 100th season. The game will be played on February 2, 2020 at Hard Rock Stadium in
Miami Gardens,
Florida. This will be the 11th Super Bowl hosted by the South Florida region and the sixth Super Bowl hosted in Miami Gardens, which hosted
Super Bowl XLIV ten years earlier. At the beginning of the Super Bowl,
America the Beautiful (
America the Beautiful on YouTube) and the American national anthem (
The Star-Spangled Banner –
US National Anthem by Beyonce) is intoned, followed by a fly-over over the stadium by a flying unit of the
United States Armed Forces (one will have to wait in vain for a while to be able to watch the overflight by the new 6th armed forces, the
United States Space Force). This year’s legendary
halftime show will be co-headlined by the
American artist
Jennifer Lopez and the
Colombian artist
Shakira.

After a mixed season, especially for the
New England Patriots and their
quarterback and superstar
Tom Brady, who were defeated by the
Miami Dolphins before the playoffs and finally kicked out of the
2020 playoffs by the
Tennessee Titans (The New York Times, 5 January 2020:
Tom Brady’s Last Pass Puts His Patriots Future in Doubt, US Today, 5 January 2020:
Tom Brady uncertain on future, but retirement ‘pretty unlikely’, NBC News, 5 January 2020:
New England Patriots stunned by Titans as rumors swirl over QB Tom Brady’s future), the
Minnesota Vikings had taken the
New Orleans Saints out of the race in the first round, the Wild Card Playoffs, what was definitely not to be expected as well. The joy at the Vikings lasted for a week only, because they lost clearly against the
San Francisco 49ers in the second round. The
Baltimore Ravens fared similarly in the game against the
Tennessee Titans, who were able to prevail against their opponents in the Divisional Round as well as the
Kansas City Chiefs (who set off a points firework against the
Houston Texans), the 49ers (against the
Minnesota Vikings) and the
Green Bay Packers (against the
Seattle Seahawks). The Chiefs won the
AFC Championship against the Titans and the 49ers won the
NFC Championship against the Packers, ending this years
play-offs so that both winning teams will face each other at the Super Bowl. It will be very exciting, as almost every time (CNN, 3 February 2020:

CNN, 26 February 2020:
Over 1,300 complaints were sent to the FCC about Shakira and J.Lo’s Super Bowl halftime show – good for them, that they never saw this video. It could have led to mass hysteria or even to serial heart attacks.
