MetLife Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey, 5 mi (8 km) west of New York City. Opened in 2010 to replace Giants Stadium, it serves as the home for the New York Giants and New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). At an approximate cost of $1.6 billion, it was the most expensive stadium built in the United States at the time of its completion. In 2009, MetLife Stadium was named the “Greenest Stadium” in the NFL by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In July 2017, MetLife Stadium was named “Venue of the Year” by the Stadium Business Summit. The award is awarded to the world’s best stadium, arena or sports venue, that deserves recognition for an outstanding performance over a 12-month period.   read more…

The current Yankee Stadium is a baseball stadium located in the Bronx, New York City. It is the home field for Major League Baseball‘s New York Yankees and Major League Soccer‘s New York City FC. The $2.3 billion stadium, built with $1.2 billion in public subsidies, replaced the original Yankee Stadium in 2009 and is the third-largest stadium in MLB by seating capacity. It is located one block north of the original, on the 24-acre (9.7 ha) former site of Macombs Dam Park; the 8-acre (3.2 ha) site of the original stadium is now a public park called Heritage Field.   read more…

Alinghi is the syndicate set up by Ernesto Bertarelli, racing under the colors of the Société Nautique de Genève, to challenge for the America’s Cup, as well as other competitions. Bertarelli had raced several smaller yachts named Alinghi previously, but 2003 was his first attempt at the America’s Cup. Alinghi challenged for and won the 2003 America’s Cup in Auckland New Zealand and successfully defended it at the 2007 America’s Cup in Valencia, Spain. Alinghi lost the America’s Cup to the Golden Gate Yacht Club and their team BMW Oracle Racing in a Deed of Gift match in Valencia, Spain in February 2010. For the 2003 event, Team New Zealand as the holder of the America’s Cup, in consultation with Prada, the Challenger of Record, removed the nationality rule that stipulated that all of the crew members must be nationals of the challenging syndicate.   read more…

The FTX Arena (formerly known as American Airlines Arena) is a sports and entertainment multi-purpose arena located in Miami, Florida, along Biscayne Bay. It was constructed beginning in 1998 as a replacement for the Miami Arena and designed by the architecture firms Arquitectonica and 360 Architecture. The 2020 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as 2020 UEFA European Championship, UEFA Euro 2020, or simply Euro 2020, is scheduled to be the 16th UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international men’s football championship of Europe organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). The tournament, to be held in 11 cities in 11 UEFA countries, was originally scheduled from 12 June to 12 July 2020. The tournament was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe and rescheduled for 11 June to 11 July 2021. The tournament will still retain the name “UEFA Euro 2020”.   read more…

Val Gardena (German: Gröden) is a valley in Northern Italy, in the Dolomites of South Tyrol. It is best known as a touristic skiing, rock climbing, and woodcarving area. The valley’s main river is the Rio Gardena, a tributary of Eisack river. The mountains that surround the valley are formed by dolomite rocks, which confer them a characteristic appearance. Most of the steep slopes are covered by pine woods. The favoured cultivations are barley, rye, potatoes, flax, buckwheat. The three municipalities in Val Gardena are Ortisei, Selva, and Santa Cristina; they were served by the Ferrovia della Val Gardena from 1916 until 1960.   read more…

The NFL Super Bowl LIV, the 54th Super Bowl and the 50th modern-era National Football League (NFL) championship game (American Football) will decide the league champion for the league’s 2019 and 100th season. The game will be played on February 2, 2020 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. This will be the 11th Super Bowl hosted by the South Florida region and the sixth Super Bowl hosted in Miami Gardens, which hosted Super Bowl XLIV ten years earlier. At the beginning of the Super Bowl, America the Beautiful (America the Beautiful on YouTube) and the American national anthem (The Star-Spangled BannerUS National Anthem by Beyonce) is intoned, followed by a fly-over over the stadium by a flying unit of the United States Armed Forces (one will have to wait in vain for a while to be able to watch the overflight by the new 6th armed forces, the United States Space Force). This year’s legendary halftime show will be co-headlined by the American artist Jennifer Lopez and the Colombian artist Shakira.   read more…

The Gumball 3000 is a collection of companies that includes an apparel brand, a registered charity and is best known for an annual 3,000-mile (4,800 km) international celebrity motor rally, which takes place on public roads. The name comes from the 1976 movie The Gumball Rally. It was established in 1999 by Maximillion Cooper, with his vision to combine cars, music, fashion and entertainment.   read more…
