Sveti Stefan (lit. Saint Stephen) is a town in Budva Municipality, on the Adriatic coast of Montenegro, approximately 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southeast of Budva. The town is known for the Aman Sveti Stefan resort, a 5-star franchise of the international group of Aman Resorts. Sveti Stefan consists of a small island now connected to the mainland by a narrow tombolo and the mainland part, where most of the residents live.   read more…

The Peninsula Paris is a historic luxury hotel and also part of the Palaces de France originally known as the Hotel Majestic, located on Avenue Kléber in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, France. It opened in 1908 as the Hotel Majestic and was converted to government offices in 1936. The hotel served as a field hospital for wounded officers during World War I, staffed largely by British aristocrats. During World War II, it served as the headquarters of the German military high command in France during the German occupation of Paris. The building played a pivotal role in the deportation of Parisian Jews and the 1944 assassination attempt on Hitler. The building reopened as The Peninsula Paris in August 2014, following a complicated and costly restoration.   read more…

The Zoofenster is a high-rise building in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin‘s Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf borough. It owes its name to the Zoological Garden opposite and, at 118.8 meters, ranks fifth among Berlin’s high-rises, along with the neighboring Upper West, which is of the same height. Together with the Upper West, it forms a gateway to Kantstraße and frames the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at Breitscheidplatz. The Zoofenster primarily houses a five-star hotel belonging to the Waldorf Astoria chain.   read more…

Vaux-de-Cernay Abbey (French: Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay) is a former Cistercian monastery in northern France (Île-de-France), situated in Cernay-la-Ville, in the Diocese of Versailles, Yvelines. The abbey was abandoned during the French Revolution and fell into partial ruin. Most of the buildings, except for the church, were restored in the late 19th century by Charlotte de Rothschild, and the property is now a hotel.   read more…

The Algonquin Hotel (officially The Algonquin Hotel Times Square, Autograph Collection) is a hotel at 59 West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, United States. The 181-room hotel, opened in 1902, was designed by architect Goldwin Starrett for the Puritan Realty Company. The hotel has hosted numerous literary and theatrical notables throughout its history, including members of the Algonquin Round Table club during the early 20th century. Its first owner-manager, Frank Case, established many of the hotel’s traditions, including an official hotel cat as well as discounts for struggling authors. The hotel is a New York City designated landmark and a member of Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.   read more…
