The ship is the sixth to carry the name Esmeralda. The first was the frigateEsmeralda captured from the Spanish at Callao, Peru, by Admiral Lord Thomas Cochrane of the Chilean Navy, in a bold incursion on the night of 5 November 1820. The second was the corvetteEsmeralda of the Chilean Navy, which, set against superior forces, fought until sunk with colors flying on 21 May 1879 at the Battle of Iquique. The Rum Regatta (also spelled Rumregatta, Danish: Romregatta) is the largest gaff-rigged sailing meeting in Northern Europe. The Albatros – previously Dagmar Larssen, Iris Thy and Esther Lohse – is a three-masted topsail schooner belonging to the “Clipper” club and is used for trips with young people and older sailors. The sailing ship with the relatively high jibboom mainly sails in the German and Danish Baltic Seas. Every year it is moored at Ring-Andersen in Svendborg for winter maintenance work, which is largely carried out on a voluntary basis. read more…
Santa Maria Manuela is a Portuguese four-masted schooner. Originally a codfish fishing ship, Santa Maria Manuela is now used for sail training, hands on sailing holidays, environmental expeditions and team development programs. It belongs to Grupo Jerónimo Martins and is the sistership of the Portuguese Navy‘s Creoula. It’s one of the last ships of the former Portugese “Frota Branca/White Fleet”. read more…
MSY Wind Surf is a five-mast staysailschooner that is one of the largest sailing cruise ships in the world, with two electric propulsion motors powered by four diesel electric generating sets also. She can carry up to 342 passengers, in a total of 150 ocean-view staterooms, 18 ocean-view suites and 2 deluxe bridge suites, with a crew of 210.
